Titanium dioxide is a naturally occurring oxide of titanium, which is generally sourced from minerals like ilmenite, rutile, and anatase. It has a wide range of applications. Titanium dioxide is used in paint, sunscreen, and food coloring. Some of its other important applications are in areas like varnishes, paper, printing ink, rubber and plastics. It is also used in the production of technical pure titanium, glass and glass ceramics, electrical ceramics, metal patinas, catalysts, electric conductors, and chemical intermediates. It can be produced using the chloride process or the sulphate process. There has been rapid progress in the field of titanium dioxide and its applications are finding their way across multiple industries.
